DPos (Delegated Proof-of-Stake)

Delegated Proof-of-Stake (DPoS) is a consensus mechanism utilized in blockchain networks like EOS and Tron. In DPoS, token holders vote to elect a limited number of delegates, typically called "witnesses" or "validators," who are responsible for validating transactions and creating new blocks. These delegates have the authority to produce blocks and maintain the network's operation. DPoS enhances scalability by reducing the number of nodes involved in block production, thereby increasing transaction throughput. However, it requires trust in the elected delegates and can be susceptible to centralization if a small group controls a significant portion of the voting power.
